Save Things Here

In the Pace Car system, we house “paths” of results for you. These are simply tables with time periods going across and components of results going down. There are many scenarios, as you know. We want the ability to call up ones pertaining to an issue at hand, and sift through them by way of queries.

So the first step is to have a menu of path time periods. That menu will depend on the date you are using and whether you want to go back, or forward or both. Note that a forward option will be your most important.

There is a page devoted to Path time periods (click here), but here is a snapshot on the concept:

We need options for Path time periods. Planning next quarter cash flow is differently than supporting a strategic plan. Pace Car has a menu to choose from asks for length of periods (year, quarter, etc.) length of back horizon (1 to 5 years), length of forward horizon (1 to 5 years). Back and forward can appear together.

Choices depend not only on your project, but what data you have. This is especially true for the forward option. Pace Car has a module called PathPoint which uses a matrix approach to completing various forward data tables well enough to keep the forward periods as an option.

What are Paths?

Results can be almost anything, really. For starters, a list of results closely follows financial statements and also the accounting chart of accounts. But they are not restricted to that. For example, loan proceeds and inventory purchases are not general ledger accounts.

If unit counts are at all associated to dollar figures, they are results too and we want to include them.

Our overarching aim is to explain and influence movement in Profit, Cash and Equity, so there you have the three lead results. Within these there are clusters that rollup, and the clusters have clusters, etc. Looking for drivers.

Clearly there are too many results to deal with, so we are making decisions on what gets visibility. But the data will point to most of what we need, even if we did not focus well enough early on.

Filtering and segmenting add to the volume og “looks” at results. We are big believers in this even though it can be a lot of work. We have a Power-Up called “Traceability” that provides capability for this. There is a page for this. (click here).

Our subscription model calls for ongoing contact between Pace Car and User. We will not be missing any financial or operational component that affects Profit, Cash or Equity in a meaningful way.

We have a page on Results (click here).

What are Results?

Forward results in Pace Car are voluntary. You don’t have to use them and you can still reap the benefits of Pace Car contributions.

However, it is the forward results that add the most value to your decision-making.

Therefore , , , here are the choices. If you have projections, we can import them. We can use them instead of our Head Here Path if you concur, or we can use our caculated Headed Here.

We are still calculating the Pace Car Path using PathPoint. Between these options, we will confer with you and calculate the variances we need to identify the low performers that offer the best gains.

How to you handle forward results? And scenarios?

What are Variances?

What is a Strategic Move?

Based on quantified findings of off-couse performance versus Pace Car Path, an effort is organized to influence parties to rework something they do, with the expectation that it will benefit Profit-Cash-Equity.

Project FPA

What we call “Project FPA” is traditional. You will recognize it as requests for project work on deliverables such as reporting, budgeting and forecasting and such. They could be annual or recurring. You are certainly already doing it - to various extents. If there are gaps due to capacity, experience or any other reason, we can help.

We charge in a traditional way, per hour, per project, per month, which you would expect.

Project FPA leverages our BirdTraffic system and helps us fulfill part of our mission - to assist owners and managers to accomplish short and long term goals.

This site is focused primarily on subscription FPA, but please contact us at any time if you wan to discuss project work.

Subscription FPA

What we call “Subscription FPA” is the diifferent approach.

Our subscription service, called Pace Car by BirdTraffic, employs the four engines of BirdTraffic method to fulfill another part of our mission - to find and shape results that carry impact for value-profit-cash.

In this process our Owl engine (guidance) does the finding and our Hawk engine (influence) does the shaping.

In between Crow does the organizing and Eagle does the display.

The Pace Car subscription is unique in that it both leads and collaborates. Leads in the sense that there is a steady stream of content to user attempting to suggest strategic moves. Collaborates in the sense that there is a process that fosters valuable interaction with the user.
